Posted on 05/05/2010 in Animal Health Supplier News Genitrix is introducing a new low-cost blood testing service designed to encourage better monitoring of epilepsy among dogs in the UK.
The West Sussex-based firm is allying with NationWide Veterinary Laboratories to offer the service to vet practices, a measure which follows on from the launch of its potassium bromide treatment Libromide earlier this year.
It states that such testing is necessary to ensure that animals using its treatment regime remain within the drug's recommended therapeutic range, as fluctuations can often occur due to diet or the use of other therapies.
Rob Watkins, marketing director at Genitrix, said a reduction in the cost of testing will encourage more pet owners to comply with blood testing guidelines.
He added: "We hope that the discounted blood test scheme will be another step forward in the move to improve treatment approaches for this distressing disease."
Libromide was launched by Genitrix at the end of March 2010 following the completion of a trial which the firm identified as the largest of its kind among dogs with epilepsy.Other news stories from 05/05/2010
