Posted on 21/04/2010 in Medical Company Product News 3M Health Care has been presented with two awards for the innovative design of its 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 3200 and accompanying Zargis Cardioscan software.
The device has won the company the red dot: Best of the Best award for product design from the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, while Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry magazine awarded the unit its Medical Design Excellence Award prize.
These prestigious accolades were presented in honour of the electronic stethoscope's overall design and use of materials, as well as the benefits it brings to users.
It functions by wirelessly transmitting heart, lung and body sound data from the stethoscope chest piece to the accompanying software for analysis.
Ingrid Blair, global business manager for 3M's infection prevention division, said: "Through the use of Bluetooth technology and algorithmic computing, the Littmann Model 3200 and Zargis Cardioscan system is changing the way physicians approach auscultation and the interpretation of physiological sounds."
Last month, the company published the results of a study highlighting the fact that its paint-on DuraPrep Surgical Solutions system can offer cost savings compared to alternative methods.Other news stories from 21/04/2010
