Posted on 19/04/2010 in Medical Company Product News Radiometer has been presented with a Medical Design Excellence Award for its ABL90 Flex blood gas analyser.
The medical technology firm was honoured with the prestigious accolade for the first time in recognition of the design and functionality of the point-of-care testing system.
Radiometer's device is designed to measure 17 different parameters, including blood gas, electrolytes, metabolites and CO-oximetry, while providing results in around 35 seconds.
Peter Kurstein, president of Radiometer, said the concept behind the creation of the device was to ensure clinicians can spend more time on patient care and less on testing and diagnostics.
He added: "Design and functionality have played a pivotal role in making that a reality for our users and we are truly happy to have these efforts recognised."
The advantages of the device have also been highlighted by Christopher Price, visiting professor in clinical biochemistry at the University of Oxford, who said the speed of the unit "puts time on the caregiver's side".Other news stories from 19/04/2010
