Roche Diagnostics supplies NHS trust with clinical analyser

Roche Diagnostics has provided Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with a new clinical analyser in order to help it achieve faster testing results.
The trust has been supplied with a Cobas 8000 SWA (serum work area) platform and has been evaluating its capabilities at its two clinical biochemistry laboratory sites.
This system incorporates two Cobas c701 high-throughput clinical chemistry modules and a Cobas e602 immunochemistry module, allowing it to cope with the laboratories' high volume of work and data.
Darren Jose, pathology general manager for the trust, also praised the system's ability to run low volume tests and specialised, user-defined assays, adding that it now plans to have two Cobas 8000 systems at each laboratory.
He said: "We wanted increased throughput combined with time and labour savings [and] with Cobas 8000, Roche has delivered on all fronts."
Last month, Roche Diagnostics purchased a number of assets from BioMicro Systems relating to the Roche NimbleGen microarray workflow, in order to allow it to produce the devices in-house.
