BD launches new specimen processor system
7 April 2010 00:00 in Scientific
BD has released a new microbiology specimen processor system, which is designed to allow laboratory technicians to achieve accurate automated results.
The BD Innova Preanalytical Automated Microbiology Specimen Processor is a versatile system which is intended to be compatible with a variety of specimen containers, protocols, workflows and streak patterns.
It allows for automated preanalytical specimen processing, an increasingly important issue due to the increasing work volumes faced by many microbiology labs, while also helping to eliminate human errors.
This product has been added to the company's portfolio following the acquisition of the lab systems division of Dynacon.
Philippe Jacon, president of diagnostic systems at BD, said this acquisition "demonstrates BD's commitment to providing labs with the tools and products they need to enhance the quality of their tests results, improve turnaround times and make the most cost-effective use of their resources".
Last month, the company launched a new software solutions package to allow healthcare professionals to monitor the spread of infectious diseases.
