Posted on 25/03/2010 in Scientific Life Technologies has received regulatory clearance to launch its new real-time PCR instrument for in vitro diagnostics (IVD) across Europe.
The Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast Dx Real-Time PCR Instrument has been available in the US since 2008 and is designed for clinicians developing in vitro molecular diagnostic assays in fields such as oncology, genetic disease and infectious disease.
It allows for the fast and accurate quantification of nucleic acids while recording and analysing data using a suite of software and data analysis tools.
The product has now been granted IVD validation by European regulators and will be made available in 22 countries across the continent.
John Gerace, vice-president and general manager of PCR systems for Life Technologies, said: "The availability of a platform validated for use in these markets will have a profound impact on the development of new assays for diagnosing a wide variety of different diseases."
Last week, the firm was named as one of the world's most responsible companies in a ranking compiled by CRO Magazine, honouring the firm's eco-efficiency and employee relations.Other news stories from 25/03/2010
