Novartis Animal Health to launch new drench product in UK

Novartis Animal Health will be launching a new drench product in the UK which is designed to assist livestock owners in combating parasites.
The company's new Zolvix product is a novel anthelmintic class product which uses the active ingredient monepantel to kill gastrointestinal nematodes in sheep, reports FarmingUK.
It is the first product of its kind to be launched in more than 25 years and is intended to help farmers to avoid the negative effects on productivity which such parasites can cause.
Novartis Animal Health brand manager Simon Harris said the release of the product is particularly important due to the growing threat posed by parasite resistance.
He said: "Because Zolvix manages worm burdens and kills nematodes resistant to other anthelmintic groups, it will improve the sustainability of other drench families and sheep production as a whole."
The product was developed over a period of almost five years and has already launched in other territories after demonstrating its efficacy in field tests.
