Posted on 15/03/2010 in Medical Company Product News GE Healthcare has revealed that its new portable electrocardiograph (ECG) device will be used by physicians overseeing the upcoming 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
The company's MAC 800 device is designed to be a lightweight, convenient unit which allows for high-quality diagnostic results at the point of care, with other features including a phone-style keypad.
Devices will be deployed at Vancouver and Whistler Polyclinics, the Vancouver Paralympic Center, Whistler Olympic Park and BC Place, allowing for care of athletes, visitors and trainers throughout the event.
Peter Robertson, general manager of GE Healthcare in Canada, said the introduction of this product will improve access to innovative health technology both at the event and worldwide.
He said: "The MAC 800's compact size will help medical teams take healthcare support to the patient during the Paralympic Games while still maintaining connectivity to larger clinics and medical institutions."
