| BDA calls for dental sector action from new government | Posted on 09/03/2010 in Dental / Dental Practitioner News The British Dental Association (BDA) has called on the winner of the forthcoming general election to ensure that measures are implemented to address problems in the UK dental sector.
A new manifesto has been launched by the body which has highlighted a number of key issues faced by the industry, such as a flawed dental contract and inconsistent dentistry commissioning among primary care trusts.
It states that the government which is elected this year will have to tackle these problems head-on in order to provide patients with better access to NHS dental care.
Dr Susie Sanderson, executive board chair of the BDA, said that issues of oral health inequality represent "major challenges".
She added: "The new government must work closely with dentists on the priorities identified in the BDA's manifesto to overcome these challenges."
This comes after the body last month called on the government to work with industry professionals on the implementation of sector reforms recommended by the Steele Review, such as linking dental practitioners' income to the number of NHS patients on their books.Other news stories from 09/03/2010
