Posted on 08/03/2010 in Scientific Metter Toledo has been honoured with the R&D 100 Award in recognition of its Quantos dosing device for free-flowing substances in laboratories.
The science company's machine was deemed by a panel of professional industry experts to be worthy of the innovation-based award, with more than 50 judges participating in the selection process.
Quantos is designed to eliminate the need for spatulas and other implements required for manual measurement, as it can automatically dose small samples directly into the tare container-making weighing.
The firm said this represents a "quantum leap" for the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors, as its automated nature can reduce product time to market and increase efficiency.
It added: "Quantos supports everyday processes in the laboratory, improves employee safety and minimises costs."
Last month, the company underlined the benefits offered by its automated Liquid Handler pipetting system, which it said can allow for a faster workflow while simultaneously helping to eliminate human error.Other news stories from 08/03/2010
