Posted on 04/03/2010 in Pharmaceutical Company Restructures Bristol-Myers Squibb has selected Lamberto Andreotti as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective as of May 4th 2010.
The executive, who currently serves as the biopharmaceutical company's president and chief operating officer, steps into the role following a 12-year career at the firm in senior leadership positions.
He will take over the CEO position from James Cornelius, who has announced his retirement in May 2010, although he will remain at the company as chairman.
Mr Andreotti hailed the role played by Mr Cornelius in the development of the company in recent years and expressed confidence that the firm can continue to move forwards.
He said: "While challenges lie ahead, we are confident we can overcome them as we continue to successfully execute and deliver operationally, financially and strategically to maximise our future opportunities."
According to the company's most recent financial breakdown in January, Bristol-Myers Squibb was able to increase its net sales in 2009 by 11 per cent year-on-year.Other news stories from 04/03/2010
