Posted on 03/03/2010 in Pharmaceutical Company Financials Astellas is to send a donation of medical supplies to aid the relief efforts following the earthquakes in Haiti.
The company, which has already made a number of cash donations via its various regional subdivisions, is contributing items such as injectable antibiotics and antifungal medicines to the disaster-hit region.
Its latest donation is estimated to be worth around $400,000 (266,690 pounds) and follows a previous donation of medicines from the firm's European subsidiary Asteallas Pharma Europe.
In total, the group has now donated the equivalent of $555,000 to the relief efforts since the earthquake occurred in mid-January 2010.
It stated: "Astellas expresses its deepest sympathy for victims of the Haiti earthquake and our thoughts are with those personally affected by the tragedy."
Earlier this week, the company made a move to purchase fellow healthcare firm OSI Pharmaceuticals in a deal intended to strengthen its oncology sector activities.Other news stories from 03/03/2010
