2 March 2010 00:00 in Medical Company Restructures
BD has opened a new manufacturing site in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in order to increase its global production capacity of medical products.
The medical technology firm has officially inaugurated the $16.6 million (11.1 million pounds) facility, which will be completed and ready for full operation in 2011.
It will be used for the construction of cut stainless steel tubes, which will subsequently be sent to other BD facilities to be ground, cleaned and assembled into needles.
William Kozy, BD's executive vice president, stated that the construction of the San Luis Potosi site will be instrumental in helping the firm meet rising demand for its products across the world.
He added: "We are grateful for the support we have received from the Mexican authorities, especially the San Luis Potosi government, for this investment."
Last week, the technology firm launched the BD FACSAria III cell sorting system, a device designed to deliver superior flow cytometry performance.
