DJ Orthopaedics DonJoy knee brace production milestone

DJ Orthopaedics’ DonJoy Defiance knee brace has surpassed a manufacturing milestone following the production of its one millionth unit.

The custom knee ligament support system has achieved this landmark total in 18 years since its 1992 launch, during which time it has become the flagship product in the company’s DonJoy brand.

Its lightweight carbon fibre-based design has helped to drive the product to widespread use among sportsmen and women, as well as private consumers who wish to maintain an active lifestyle.

Les Cross, president and chief executive officer of DJ Orthopaedics, hailed the milestone achievement, which he credited to the product’s ongoing evolution and improvements over the last 18 years.

He added: “Innovation that improves the customer and patient experience is the spirit that drives all DJO businesses.”

Last week, the medical device company published its financial results for 2009, during which it achieved positive net sales growth in constant currency terms despite the effects of the recession.
