| BD Diagnostics launches haematology testing device | Posted on 15/02/2010 in Medical Company Product News BD Diagnostics has launched a new medical device intended to allow for safer and more accurate haematology testing in potentially vulnerable patients.
The company's new BD Microtainer MAP Microtube is designed as a low-volume collection system which allows for automated processing to be conducted with 81 per cent less blood than venous systems.
This means that it can offer advantages when applied to patients with fragile or difficult-to-access veins, such as infants and the elderly, as turnaround times will be significantly reduced.
Tom Polen, president of pre-analytical systems at BD Diagnostics, stated that its new device can play a potentially key role in the prevention of misdiagnoses in health care.
He added: "BD is committed to continuing our history of innovation in helping improve patient safety and healthcare worker safety, while enhancing workflow efficiency."
Earlier this month, the company revealed that it is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers posed by influenza, with a focus on hospitals and schools.Other news stories from 15/02/2010
