Posted on 11/02/2010 in Pharmacy Supplier News Pfizer has marked its first foray into the UK's generic drugs market by launching six new treatments in the country.
The pharmaceutical company has introduced the products to the country after agreements made with last year with companies such as Aurobindo Pharma and Claris Lifesciences, PharmaTimes reported.
Overall, the company acquired the rights to 55 generic oral drugs and five injectable therapies over 70 emerging markets.
Furthermore, an agreement with Aurobindo has also granted Pfizer EU and US rights to various generic treatments and it now plans to launch 15 injectable drugs on the continents, as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
Steve Poutlon, commercial director at Pfizer UK, commented that the firm is "committed to ensuring that its generic medicines continue to build on the strong heritage of its patented medicines, which are known for their quality, efficacy and supply reliability".
He added that its generic products will be sure to deliver commercial value and broader options to pharmacists due to its healthy partnership initiative.
