Biogen Idec recruits MS experts for research and development
Biogen Idec revealed this week that it has appointed two experts on the field of multiple sclerosis (MS) to its research and redevelopment team.
The company has welcomed John Richert and Nancy Richert, who will each assume the role of fellow in neurology research and development.
Ms Richert most recently served as a staff clinician in the Neuroimmunology Branch at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
She also held the role of staff clinician in the Laboratory of Diagnostic Radiology Research at the NIH’s Clinical Center.
In her new post, she will advise on the use of MRI and other imaging technologies in the company’s clinical trials, developing imaging strategies to advance the Company’s efforts in personalised medicine.
Mr Richert joins Biogen Idec from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where he served as executive vice-president for research and clinical programmes.
He will now take a leadership role in shaping Biogen Idec’s MS operations, including developing drugs for progressive forms of the condition.
In other company news, Biogen Idec and its partner Swedish Orphan Biovitrum launched a planned investigation into haemophilia B last month.
