Biohit this week announced that Yrjo Wichmann has been appointed as director of its diagnostic business segment.
The professional will take up his new role from February 1st, the organisation revealed.
Mr Wichmann's most recent position was fundraising director at asset management firm CapMan and he has approximately 20 years of experience in the field of investment banking and finance.
Prior to this, Mr Wichmann held the posts of chief financial officer and equity capital markets director within the healthcare technology industry.
He has also been made a member of Biohit's diagnostics management team and will report to the president and chief executive officer of the firm.
Earlier this month, the company revealed that it has developed a new product that is designed to prevent the exposure of the gastrointestinal tract to carcinogenic acetaldehyde - which is an established risk factor for oesophageal and gastric cancers.
The firm worked alongside scientific advisers and the University of Helsinki on the project.
