Grifols contributes to Haiti aid through Fundacion Probitas

Grifols has announced that it has instigated a programme to assist the aid companies working in Haiti following the earthquake that hit the country just over two weeks ago.
Through Fundacion Probitas - which was established in 2008 with Grifols' sponsorship - the firm has approved an aid strategy to help groups currently working in the troubled nation.
Fundacion Probitas has now initiated an emergency health plan, which is worth up to one million euros (865,000 pounds).
Made up of health materials including intravenous serum and blood bags, the packages were despatched immediately and a second batch of equipment - containing various plasma products such as albumin and specific gammaglobulins - has also been arranged.
It will be sent as soon as basic services in Haiti resume and it becomes possible to store the supplies at the low temperatures needed.
Last autumn, Grifols revealed the results of an Alzheimer's trial which showed that the use of systematic practice of therapeutic plasmapheresis with human albumin in patients works towards stabilising their condition.
