Elsevier has revealed that its flagship range of Cell Press journals is set to be published online.
The pieces, which were originally released as a demonstration prototype for two sample articles, will be included in the 'Article of the Future' format, the firm announced.
Its Article of the Future project is an ongoing partnership with the scientific community to redefine how scientific data is presented online and the fruits of the project are set to be introduced across Elsevier's 2,000-strong portfolio of journals.
They will be available to access through ScienceDirect - the largest scientific, technical and medical database in the world.
Emilie Marcus, editor in chief at Cell Press, said: "By taking advantage of the functionalities afforded by online publishing, our new article format provides authors and readers with more effective and efficient ways to present and access scientific information."
In other Elsevier news, last week the organisation confirmed its acquisition of NurseSquared - an electronic training tool for medical students.
