| NHS 'to revamp complaints procedure' in Wales | Posted on 11/01/2010 in Medical Government/ NHS related news The NHS has announced that it will overhaul the way in which patients lodge a complaint with the health service in Wales.
According to the country's assembly government, the system needs streamlining and adapting for easier use, as reports of people experiencing delays have been registered.
The proposals will be put to public consultation until April 2nd and under the new plans, patients and staff will be offered more advice and support.
Edwina Hart, the current health minister, said that although most people are happy with the way they are treated by the NHS, problems do arise in some cases.
"Patients should be able to raise concerns openly and know that lessons will be learned by the organisation and that they will get the help and support they need," she continued.
Last month, the NHS in Wales reported a fall in the number of heart attacks in the country since the smoking ban was introduced in 2007.Other news stories from 11/01/2010
