Posted on 07/01/2010 in Scientific Mast Group has reported the launch of a new antibiotic susceptibility disc list, which includes all the European Committee for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (Eucast) recommendations.
In a statement, the scientific and diagnostic solutions provider explained that Eucast was formed to create standardised susceptibility methods to be used across Europe.
The firm stated that this is because antimicrobial susceptibility test methods tend to vary from country to country across the continent, meaning that inconsistencies could occur.
"Eucast minimum inhibitory concentration breakpoints are already available and a new disc method which is being introduced from 2010 onwards will be calibrated to these breakpoints," it added.
The firm concluded by stating that the list has been available from January 1st.
Last month, Mast Group highlighted the fact that its GenoQuick Chlamydia Trachomatis system provides laboratories with a "simple and rapid" test for Chlamydia trachomatis, which it said is one of the world's most prevalent sexually-transmitted infections.Other news stories from 07/01/2010
