Posted on 07/01/2010 in Scientific Applied Biosystems has announced the publication of a paper that demonstrates the power of next-generation DNA sequencing in the identification of DNA mutations in a small cell lung cancer line.
In a recent statement, the company - which is part of Life Technologies - said that the paper also shows the power of sequencing in spotting the mutational burden that is associated with tobacco smoking.
Published in the journal Nature, the research was co-authored by Applied Biosystems and researchers from the Wellcome Trust Cancer Institute.
Kip Miller, president of genetic systems at Life Technologies, commented: "This paper emphasises the power that next-generation sequencing, such as Applied Biosystems' SOLiD System, has to improve science's understanding of disease and its potential to develop better diagnostics and therapeutic treatment."
