Quintiles has been named Clinical Research Organisation (CRO) of the Year at the Scrip Awards in London.
Judged by a panel of UK-based life sciences experts, the awards were set up to recognise outstanding achievements in the biopharmaceutical industry.
The judges described Quintiles as a "truly global CRO" and said that it had been successful in establishing "unique partnerships" with customers to "absorb some of the risk of drug development".
Commenting on the award, chief operating officer at Quintiles John Ratcliff said that the firm was pleased to be rewarded for "how we help our customers navigate risk and seize opportunities in this changing industry landscape we call the new health".
The other companies shortlisted for the CRO of the Year award were Kendle, Parexel International and QED Clinical Services.
Other winners at this year's Scrip Awards included Schering-Plough, which was named Large Pharma Company of the Year.
Dr George Poste, the former SmithKline executive who founded the BioDesign Institute in Arizona, received a lifetime achievement award.
