| Bausch and Lomb confirms contact lens manufacturing consolidation | Posted on 16/12/2009 in Pharmacy Supplier News Bausch and Lomb has confirmed its intentions to consolidate its contact lens manufacturing processes at a number of its plants.
In a statement, the organisation, which has products available in more than 100 countries around the world, explained this means that it is to withdraw from contact lens production at its facility in Livingston, Scotland.
The firm - which is the parent company of brands including PureVision, Optima and SofLens - said that the closure of the Scottish plant is anticipated to take place in 2011.
Contact lens production will be consolidated at other existing plants, including one at Waterford in Ireland.
The organisation said that during the transition period, it is implementing "multiple measures" to make certain that all supplies of its products are made available to consumers and eye care professionals without interruption.
Last month, Bausch and Lomb made available FogShield Sport, which is an anti-fog treatment for those who take part in winter sport activities that require them to wear goggles.Other news stories from 16/12/2009
