Posted on 16/12/2009 in Scientific PerkinElmer has announced the launch of a number of new phthalate detection solutions in response to growing concern regarding the hazardous contents of some consumer products.
In a statement, the scientific organisation explained that the new GC/MS systems will help to ensure that such items are compliant with current EU regulations for plasticizer content in children's products such as toys.
The company said the analytical tools offer high sensitivity that allows for detection levels that are lower than those required by the EU.
Commenting, Dusty Tenney, president of PerkinElmer's analytical sciences and laboratory services division, said: "We are committed to developing and enhancing our analytical solutions to help ensure the safety of consumers.
"Our advanced detection capabilities help safeguard consumers against the hidden dangers of chemicals such as phthalates."
Earlier this month, PerkinElmer announced that it is to expand its No Wash Amplified Luminescent Proximity Homogeneous Assay Technology portfolio with the launch of 46 new biomarker research assay and cell signalling pathway kits.Other news stories from 16/12/2009
