Posted on 15/12/2009 in Medical Company Restructures Medtronic has announced the appointment of a new vice-president of medical affairs for coronary and peripheral business - professor Martin Rothman.
He will take up his post from January 4th 2010 after 37 years of clinical practice in the UK.
He worked at the London Chest Hospital under the Barts and the London NHS Trust for 27 years, where he served for more than ten years as director of cardiac research and development.
Sean Salmon, vice-president and general manager of the coronary and peripheral division of Medtronic's cardiovascular business, said that professor Rothman is a pioneer in the field of interventional technology.
"We look forward to his leadership of our office of medical affairs, which will benefit from the scientific rigor and keen insights that he has demonstrated throughout his medical career," he explained.
In other Medtronic news, the firm revealed the results of its long-term research into deep brain stimulation therapy for epilepsy earlier this month.
The treatment was shown to result in the improvement of median seizure frequency, reducing it by 41 per cent after one year.Other news stories from 15/12/2009
