The book, which is entitled Fragrances of the World and was compiled by perfume expert Michael Edwards, is now in its 26th edition and will be published this month, reports the Independent.
Mr Edwards told the newspaper: "The most notable trend in the industry right now comes from the growth in niche products." According to the expert, niche scents can be identified as those that shun celebrity or supermodel endorsements in favour of increased product focus.
He cited Crabtree and Evelyn and Comme des Garcons scents as examples.
Crabtree and Evelyn, which also sells body, bath and hands and feet products, was established in 1972 by Cyrus Harvey and evolved from a small, family-run business that specialised in soaps to an international company.Other news stories from 10/12/2009
