Posted on 04/12/2009 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Almirall has introduced two of its latest products to the pharmaceutical market - Parapres Plus 32 and Parapres Plus Forte (candesartan cilexetile/hydrochlorotiazide) - which are indicated to treat arterial hypertensive (AH) patients whose blood pressure cannot be controlled by monotherapy 1. Parapres Plus 32 and Parapres Plus Forte are both designed to achieve greater blood pressure control in AH patients.
High blood pressure (HBP) in such patients is often associated with cardiovascular morbimortality, the firm point out.
Therefore, the general recommendation is to reduce HBP to below 140/90 mmHg.
However, for those with cardiovascular disease, diabetes or nephropathy, this figure is recommended below 130/80 mmHg3.
In other Almirall news, the firm revealed last week that the European Medicines Agency gave a positive opinion for silodosin and recommended a marketing authorisation for both Urorec and Silodyx.
Its final decision on the matter is anticipated to be issued within 67 days of the original recommendation.Other news stories from 04/12/2009
