Elsevier re-launches biomedical database

Posted on 30/11/2009 in Marketing Services

Elsevier has announced the re-launch of its biomedical database product Embase with several new features.

The resource, which contains more than 20 million indexed records from over 7,000 journals, now includes new retrieval tools to make finding information easier for users.

In addition, Elsevier has extended the "usability" of Embase to include all biomedical and pharmaceutical scientists, as well as clinical and regulatory professionals.

The database has also been made more comprehensive with the inclusion of indexed articles-in-press and conference abstracts.

Thomas Gutjahr, head of the Knowledge Centre at Actelion Pharmaceuticals, said that the changes will make the resource more user-friendly.

"I'm very impressed by all the new improvements, which I believe will greatly help with pinpointing certain searches, for example drug-drug interactions or drug-disease searches," he commented.

Earlier this month, Elsevier unveiled MD Consult Mobile, a version of its online medical reference tool designed for use with smartphone devices such as the iPhone and BlackBerry.
