The Wrigley Company 'advised to alter gum advertisement'

Posted on 27/11/2009 in Dental Supplier News

The Wrigley Company has been advised by the National Advertising Review Board to alter the advertising for its Eclipse gum, it has emerged.

Following an examination of the dental products supplier's advertisement for the product, the National Advertising Review Board (NARB) recommends pulling the claim made that other products simply "mask bad breath", reports Nielsen Business Media.

The group also advised the Wrigley Company against implying that the natural product magnolia bark extract can help to eradicate the germs that cause bad breath.

Representative for the firm Jennifer Jackson Luth is quoted by the news agency as stating: "Wrigley respectfully disagrees with the NARB's findings and stands behind the scientific research regarding Eclipse gum with magnolia bark extract."

This news comes after the Wrigley Company highlighted the results of a University of Rhode Island study last month, which showed that chewing sugar-free gum can help individuals to reduce their calorie intake.
