Posted on 27/11/2009 in Medical Company Product News Cook Medical has allowed those in the medical industry to preview its new uterine manipulator/injectors (UMI) at the recent Global Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology.
The company's new UMI and UMI-Loc products are designed to improve laparoscopic procedures during the diagnosis and treatment of common gynecological problems, including infertility, pelvic organ prolapse, endometriosis and uterine fibroids.
According to the firm, laparoscopy - a minimally invasive technique utilising a miniscule camera - is becoming an increasingly popular method of treatment, not least due to the shorter recovery times needed for patients.
Christina Anne, vice-president of Cook Medical's women's health unit, commented: "Today there is a trend in gynaecologic surgery toward laparoscopic procedures and the UMI and UMI-Loc uterine manipulator/injectors are designed to better meet the needs of the trend-setting laparoscopic surgeons."
Earlier this month, Cook Medical launched the FluoroSet - a radiographic tubal assessment set intended for use in patients with fallopian tube complications.
