Posted on 27/11/2009 in Medical Company Product News Bayer has pointed out the verdict of a panel of experts from the Diabetes Research Institute in Munich, which recently published guidelines on the benefits of self-monitoring of blood glucose values (SMBG) in patients suffering from the condition.
The group advises that carrying out SMBG for all types of diabetes treatment is advantageous to achieve proper glucose control without increasing the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Bayer's blood glucose meter CONTOUR allows for tailored diabetes management, offering various levels of personalisation and features such as meal markers or post-meal reminders.
Leader of the panel Professor Oliver Schnell stated: "What is important to us is a homogeneous, structured and detailed approach to SMBG, which takes into account individual requirements."
Earlier this month, Bayer announced that it had welcomed a group of young environment diplomats from 19 countries across four continents into its base in Europe. Other news stories from 27/11/2009
