Posted on 23/11/2009 in Scientific TTP Labtech has launched mosquito LCP - a dedicated pipetting instrument for automated lipidic cubic phase (LCP) screening set-up.
The product, which incorporates technical innovations specific for LCP techniques, uses a positive displacement syringe with automated tip positioning, for accurate and repeatable dispensing of the drops.
It is designed to prevent cross-contamination and is capable of achieving high throughput rates of more than eight 96-well plates per hour, the firm states.
Gebhard Schertler from the Medical Research Council stated: "This new instrument now extends the applications of the mosquito to the LCP technique. The mosquito LCP will be an invaluable addition to any membrane protein crystallisation laboratory."
In August, TTP Labtech revealed that a trial into its Acumen eX3 fluorescence microplate cytometer indicated that it is proficient at supporting a wide range of assay formats that are integral to the development and discovery of new drugs.
