Posted on 17/11/2009 in Medical Company Product News B Braun Medical has drawn attention to a clinical trial conducted into the use of its new hybrid drug-eluting balloon stent system, as an alternative to drug-eluting instruments.
Although the study failed to meet its primary endpoint of non-inferiority, the Coroflex DEBlue was found to compare well to other published trials and was statistically not different to alternative Cypher stent.
The study concluded that this first DEB stent system did not meet the criteria versus the Cypher stent, but the low late lumen loss rate demonstrated comparable results to previous information on paclitaxel-eluting stents.
According to B Braun Medical, other information established by the study includes that the DEBlue offers a lower profile, improved flexibility and efficient drug-delivery without the need of a polymer matrix.
In October, B Braun Medical revealed that it had strengthened its ties with the HealthTrust Purchasing Group in order to provide pain management products to the organisation's members.
