Posted on 16/11/2009 in Medical Company Product News Boston Scientific announced this week that it will sponsor World Diabetes Day 2009 after offering the event the same support in 2008.
Organised by the International Diabetes Foundation (IDF), the day embodies the organisation's efforts to raise awareness of the condition all over the word.
The IDF, which is comprised of around 200 diabetes bodies, has a presence in 160 countries.
According to the IDF's estimations, over 246 million people worldwide have diabetes, with this number expected to increase to 380 million within the next 20 years.
David McFaul, Boston Scientific's senior vice-president, stated: "We're proud to continue our support of this important campaign with numerous activities planned at Boston Scientific sites around the globe intended to promote diabetes awareness and education."
Last month, Boston Scientific unveiled its financial results for the third quarter of 2009, revealing a three per cent growth in sales during the period, bringing their total value up to $2.02 billion (1.23 billion pounds).
