Ranbaxy announces WHO pre-qualification of product

16th November 2009

Ranbaxy has revealed that the World Health Organization (WHO) has placed its generic anti retroviral (ARV) treatment Indinavir (as sulphate) on its pre-qualification list.

This means that Ranbaxy now has a total of 19 ARVs on the WHO list.

All of these, including Indinavir, are manufactured at the company’s state-of-the-art production centres.

The organisation’s chief executive officer and managing director Atul Sobti commented: “Ranbaxy remains committed to providing high-quality affordable generic ARV medicines and will continue to dedicate itself in fighting the worldwide struggle against HIV and AIDS.”

Ranbaxy has been providing ARV medicines since 2001, aiming to offer treatment at affordable prices to those who could not previously access it.

In other company news, the firm’s non-profit organisation the Ranbaxy Science Foundation announced the recipients of its 21st Annual Research Awards for 2008 earlier this month.
