Posted on 11/11/2009 in Scientific Life Technologies has signed a definitive agreement to purchase BioTrove, it has been revealed.
By completing the acquisition, BioTrove's products, such as its OpenArray gene experssion platform and next-generation sequencing facility the SOLiD System, will be placed at Life Technologies' disposal.
OpenArray will provide the capability to validate samples against a large target panel, and can also be used in applied markets, such as pathogen testing.
"BioTrove's technology is an important addition to our extensive PCR portfolio," stated Greg Lucier, chairman and chief executive officer of Life Technologies.
"This acquisition and other enhancements recently made to our PCR offerings enable us to remain the leader in this space."
In other Life Technologies news, the firm announced that its non-generally accepted accounting principles revenue for the third quarter of 2009 reached $805 million (488 million pounds).
