Posted on 05/11/2009 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Merck Sharpe & Dohme has re-launched after its merger with fellow pharmaceutical firm Schering-Plough, revealing a more robust pipeline, greater global presence and a wider portfolio of products.
The all-new company has positioned itself as a global healthcare leader and aims to provide innovative, distinctive products and services to improve peoples' quality of life and build long-term value for its shareholders.
It has also undergone a name change and will now be known as Merck in the US and Canada and MSD in all other markets.
Richard Clark, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the organisation, stated: "The combination of the considerable talents of Schering-Plough and Merck employees across the globe positions Merck to move through this dynamic time for our industry with a clear vision for the future."
The firm now boasts around 106,000 employees and operates in over 140 countries.
This news comes after Merck Sharpe and Dohme and Schering-Plough received approval for their merger from the latter firm's shareholders in August.
