Nalco becomes member of United Nations Global Compact

Posted on 27/10/2009 in Scientific

Nalco, provider of scientific instruments, has joined the United Nations Global Compact, it has revealed.

The group, which is the world's largest corporate citizenship and social responsibility organisation, was established in 2000 as the United Nations attempted bolster its millennium development goals.

So far, over 5,000 firms have joined the Global Compact - a commitment that requires dedication to ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Erik Fyrwald, Nalco's chairman and chief executive officer, stated that the firm is dedicated to being a responsible corporate presence.

"We will continue to reduce water and energy use while also cutting waste and air emissions for our customers as well as in our own operations," he added.

In September 2009, Nalco featured in daily national publication Newsweek's 2009 list of the top 100 most environmentally-friendly companies.
