| Nikon to acquire Metris | Posted on 23/10/2009 in Scientific Nikon revealed this week that it plans to acquire the 3D hardware and software inspection systems specialist Metris through its wholly-owned subsidiary NIMD SPRL.
Metris is headquartered in Leuven in Belgium and has additional production and development centers in the UK, Italy, the US, China and Canada.
The Belgian Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission approved the prospectus for the takeover bid on June 23rd 2009, Nikon revealed.
Following the mandatory re-opening of the bid, 95.04 per cent of Metris' shares were tendered and NIMD SPRL has now commenced a squeeze-out public bid.
Metris' shares were de-listed from Euronext Brussels on October 19th 2009.
This news follows the release of Nikon's corporate social responsibility report last month, a paper through which the firm said it hoped to "strengthen communications with stakeholders".
It contained details of the organisation's Global Warming Prevention Project, as well as the progression of efforts to cut its CO2 emissions.
