Caudex Medical's head of operations Jackie Marchington recently led a question and answer session on copyright issues for the medical communications industry.
Held in London earlier this month, the interactive discussion featured a number of medical writing professionals and representatives of the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA), according to the Caudex Medical website.
The session was organised by the NetworkPharma MedComms Networking group to raise awareness of the existing copyright relationships between pharmaceutical clients, agencies, freelancers and external experts.
Ms Marchington commented: "This has opened an important dialogue with the CLA which we're hoping will lead to an improved licence for the sector."
The CLA was established in 1983 and licenses organisations to photocopy and scan published material from magazines, books, journals and digital media.
Working on behalf of authors, publishers and visual creators, the organisation can issue 'blanket' licences that enable copying from a wide selection of publications for a single annual fee.
