Cardinal Health has joined forces with technology firm Orchard to present the Orchard Harvest Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Orchard Pathology Diagnostic Information System to physician office laboratories.
These solutions allow lab data to be transferred easily to electronic health records (EHRs), for the consolidation of patient information into an electronic format.
It also provides a seamless flow of data among EHRs, laboratory management and billing systems, instruments and reference labs.
The integration of this eliminates the need for manual data entry, reduces the number or errors made and provides accurate invoicing for completed lab tests.
Kenny Wilson, senior vice-president and general manager of Cardinal Health's Ambulatory Care business, stated: "We expect a greater number of our customers to begin using new technologies that can streamline the way they do business."
Earlier this month, Cardinal Health announced that it has appointed a new executive vice-president of strategy and corporate development. The new recruit - Mark Blake - took up his role on October 19th 2009.
