Purina Cat Chow offers support to cancer foundation

Purina Cat Chow has shown its support for the cancer charity Susan G Komen for the Cure by donating $20,000 (12,348 pounds) and conducting a survey into the relationship cancer sufferers have with their pets.
The poll showed that 84 per cent of breast cancer survivors who own cats believe that their pet had a calming effect upon them during their struggle with the disease.
A further 76 per cent said that they feel their furry friend offered them daily support during their treatment.
Purina Cat Chow is also inviting cat owners whose lives have been affected by cancer to upload photographs of themselves and their pets on to its website. For every image uploaded, the firm will donate a further $1 to the charity up to the sum of $10,000.
Katy Laciny, assistant brand manager at Purina Cat Chow, said: "We have heard countless stories from breast cancer patients and survivors of how they have been emotionally supported by their cats."
Earlier this month, Tesco announced that it would give away Purina pet food vouchers to those who take out its pet insurance plan until October 14th 2009.
