Posted on 13/10/2009 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Ipsen has acquired the exclusive rights to market the drug BLI-800 - a treatment designed for colonic cleansing before colonoscopy - from Braintree.
The firm will now be able to manufacture, market and distribute Braintree's proprietary formulation BLI-800.
Pending the granting of relevant marketing approvals, BLI-800 will allow colonic cleansing with reduced volumes of liquid ingested, compared to some existing drugs, including Ipsen's Fortrans.
The agreement covers the European Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, selected Asian countries and some North African nations.
Executive vice-president of corporate development at Ipsen Stephane Thiroloix stated: "The agreement with Braintree over BLI-800 will further contribute to the implementation of our Primary Care strategy by complementing Ipsen's well established gastro-enterology portfolio."
In September, Ipsen, in partnership with Galderma, announced that the glabellar line treatment Azzalure (botulinum toxin type A) - which the two firms jointly developed - received approval from authorities.
