Schering-Plough Animal Health will lend its support to the Shire Highlands Milk Producers Association (SHMPA) through a multi-year sponsorship contract, it has revealed.
The SHMPA works to sustain smallholder dairy farmers in the Shire Highlands to improve their capabilities to manage milk production and its processes.
Some of the short-term projects that Schering-Plough will be involved in include the provision of funds to build and equip a veterinary laboratory and urgently-needed veterinary diagnostics and medicines.
Edival Santos, vice-president of the global ruminant business unit at Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health, said: "We are proud to be able, with the help of veterinarians who purchase our products, to assist milk farmers in the Shire Highlands in a sustainable manner that contributes to economic improvement."
In other Schering-Pharma Animal Health news, the firm launched the first-ever vaccine against canine influenza for dogs in June - a virus to which canines have no natural immunity.
