Boston Scientific stent now available in Europe and US

Boston Scientific has announced that three models of its WallFlex Biliary RX Covered Stents are now available in both Europe and the US.
All types - fully covered, partially covered and uncovered ? can now be marketed for the palliative treatment of malignant bile duct strictures.
Additional changes have been made to the WallFlex Biliary RX Stent based on research findings and feedback, as it now comes with a platinum-cored Nitinol construction designed to deliver radial force, flexibility and radiopacity.
Michael Phalen, president of the firm's endoscopy operations, said: "Boston Scientific continues to fulfill our promise to deliver industry-leading, innovative technologies that enable physicians to best diagnose and treat digestive diseases and enhance quality of life for patients."
According to the results of a trial involving the company's TAXUS Liberte Stent last month, the updated version of the equipment outperforms its older counterpart when it comes to dealing with small vessels and long coronary lesions.
