Posted on 22/09/2009 in Pharmacy / Pharmacist News Sara Lee has released its annual sustainability report, which is entitled Sara Lee Now... For the Future.
In it, the company noted that it has reduced the amount of waste sent to landfill by a total of 18 per cent over the last four years by placing a greater focus on increasing the amount of its waste byproducts that are recycled.
Additionally, the firm has lowered its water usage by more than 21 per cent over the same period of time.
Commenting, Audra Karalius, vice-president of sustainability, environment and safety at Sara Lee, said that the 2009 financial year represented "another milestone" for the company's sustainability efforts.
"With better reporting processes and goals in place, we look forward to continuous sustainability improvement in the future," she added.
In recent days, the company announced that its long-term growth plans will be driven by a number of factors, including expanding in high-growth developing markets, reducing costs and enhancing efficiency.Other news stories from 22/09/2009
