Geistlich Biomaterials is holding a symposium at which two experts are set to discuss the challenges faced when treating Extraction Sockets and peri-implantitis.
Speaking on Thursday October 1st at EAO Monaco, Dr Jan Lindhe from Sweden is due to focus on the quantitative and qualitative changes that the edentulous site of the alveolar process will face following tooth extraction.
The healing pattern of these sites after socket preservation with Geistlich Bio-Oss has been performed will also be described in his speech, along with the contribution made by the xenogeneic inorganic bone matrix to contour preservation and volume maintenance.
Meanwhile, Dr Frank Schwarz from Germany will be considering how additional surgical interventions could be used to minimise the risk of the re-infection of a peri-implant pocket.
This could be done using bone augmentation procedures or resective surgery and a review based on evidence of currently-used materials will be included as part of the presentation.
Geistlich Bio-Oss and Geistlich Bio-Gide are currently two of the most thoroughly-documented regenerative materials used in the dental industry.
