Posted on 11/08/2009 in Pharmacy Supplier News The Body Shop has been shortlisted by the RSCPA as the organisation comes closer to awarding its accolade for the UK's most animal-friendly cosmetics company.
As part of its Good Business Awards 2009, which aim to recognise ethical practices in regards to animal welfare, the RSCPA has compiled a list of companies that fit its criteria for responsible corporate behaviour.
Alongside the Body Shop in the large firms category are L'Oreal, Marks & Spencer and Lush, while smaller organisations such as men's grooming firm Bulldog and Faith in Nature occupy the smaller business section.
Awards judge and consultant Gerard Duve said that the number of companies following the regulations of the EU cosmetics directive is encouraging.
He told Fresh Business Thinking: "Many companies are also actively publicising and promoting policies and some are even lobbying or urging their suppliers and manufacturers to do their bit so that alternatives to animal testing are continuously being developed."
Winners of the Good Business Awards 2009 are set to be announced on Wednesday October 7th 2009 at a ceremony in One Marylebone, London.
